About me

I am aware that it can be quite daunting when looking for a suitable counsellor and for this reason, I thought it might be helpful for you to take a look at some of my client experiences of working with myself...

'Thank you Tina, you made it easy for me to talk when I spent years not talking'.

'Tina has helped me immensely through very difficult times.  I cannot thank her enough'.

'Tina has been a wonderful counsellor, kind understanding and patient. She has helped me come to terms with very painful feelings. Tina has helped me enormously'.

'I felt from day one that Tina understood my frame of mind and what I was actually trying to say. She listens intently and really 'hears' your issues'. I do feel better in myself overall and would recommend her strongly'.

'I was sceptic before the first session but have been pleasantly surprised. I found that the sessions have helped my overall mood and decision making. Excellent service with Tina, Thank you'.

Experience

I have worked as a counsellor for 21 years now and consider myself to be an experienced and effective counsellor with a busy private practice.  I have successfully worked with a number of adults and helped them move on from a wide range of challenges. I have gained considerable experience when working with a wide range of issues in various settings including the Health Service, GP surgeries and Dyfed Powys Police. I have also worked as a counsellor for Cruse Bereavement Care, Carmarthenshire Counselling Service and Women's Aid. Over the last 12 years,  I have specialised and have worked extensively with clients experiencing issues around substance misuse.

I tailor my approach to meet the needs of the individual and from our first meeting together I will try to help you relax by offering a safe space to explore thoughts and feelings, on what might have brought you to counselling. Drawing on my training and experience, I work in a focussed way and am able to work swiftly with clients.  Counselling can be expensive and for this reason, I have made a point of keeping my hourly rate at what I consider a reasonable rate. This rate is not an indicator of my level of experience or training by any means.  My aim has always been to be able to reach out and offer this very much needed support to as many people as possible and especially when many of us are experiencing challenging times,  it is at times like this when we really do need someone to talk through things, whatever that might be for yourself.   I work very much from an integrated counselling background, drawing on different approaches, helping you gain more insight and understanding as to where you might be experiencing difficulties in your life.  The sessions are very much paced according to your needs. I work Monday - Wednesday and offer evening appointments also on these days.  My counselling sessions are by telephone and I have found that for many of my clients, they have been able to fit it in around their family and work commitments and have continued after their initial first appointment.  However, I do  believe it is important to find what feels right for yourself.

I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and am a fully insured member of the British Psychological Society. I also hold an enhanced certificate from the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly CRB). As part of my ongoing professional development, I attend regular training and supervision.  I adhere to the Ethical Framework of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy at all times.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

I have worked consistently since the pandemic, in that I offer telephone counselling to all my clients and the feedback I have received has been positive.  As many people are now working from home or people that work shifts, the feedback has been interesting in that they have been able to fit the counselling in around their lifestyle without having to drive to locations.

Thank you for reading my Profile and I do hope that you receive the support that you need right now, from whom ever you might choose as your counsellor.
