I am an experienced and effective counsellor with a busy private practice.  I have successfully worked with a number of adults and helped them move on from a wide range of challenges. I have gained considerable experience when working with a wide range of issues in various settings including the Health Service, GP surgeries and Dyfed Powys Police. I have also worked as a counsellor for Cruse Bereavement Care, Carmarthenshire Counselling Service and Women's Aid. More recently I have specialised and work extensively with substance misuse, working both on a one to one basis and group programmes using a CBT approach.

I tailor my approach to meet the needs of the individual and from our first meeting together I will try to help you relax by offering a safe space to explore thoughts and feelings, on what might have brought you to counselling. Drawing on my training and experience, I work in a focussed way and am able to work swiftly with clients, so you will not feel that I am wasting your time by endlessly listening as I am aware that counselling can be costly. I work very much from an Integrated counselling background, drawing on different approaches, helping you gain more insight and understanding as to where you might be experiencing difficulties in your life.  The sessions are very much paced according to your needs.

I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and am a fully insured member of the British Psychological Society. I also hold an enhanced certificate from the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly CRB). As part of my ongoing professional development, I attend regular training and supervision.  I adhere to the Ethical Framework of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy at all times.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
