About me

I am an experienced and fully qualified psychodynamic counsellor/psychotherapist and provide individual face to face or online counselling support to adults in Bristol (Westbury-on-Trym) and South Gloucestershire (Old Rectory Clinic in Iron Acton), offering long or short term counselling. My aim is to provide a non-judgemental space where you can feel listened to and supported through whatever difficulties you may be experiencing. If you are experiencing anxiety, depression or have low-self esteem, please do get in touch. I work from professional consulting rooms in  Westbury-on-Trym BS9 and Iron Acton/Yate BS37 areas of Bristol.

I aim to listen with compassion and genuine warmth and no problem is too small. Perhaps it might feel daunting to take the first step into counselling but it's ok to feel unsure. Hopefully, we can try and begin to think about what you are experiencing and delve a little deeper when you are ready.

My therapeutic approach is psychodynamic which means we will think about how your past early experiences influence your present day relationships. The counselling sessions are an opportunity to talk about whatever is troubling you, an opportunity to reflect within a safe therapeutic space by bringing whatever comes to mind and to help you on your way to feeling happier in yourself.

I have experience of working voluntarily for two charities as well as privately, both in person, online and telephone with people suffering a range of issues such as; anxiety, depression, family issues, divorce/separation, relationship breakdowns, OCD, phobias, BPD, domestic abuse/violence, work related issues, childhood sexual abuse, relationship issues, anger issues, PTSD, trauma, boarding school syndrome, self-harm and more.

I offer a free 15 minute telephone consultation to ascertain what your present issues are, what you would like help with and whether I would be the most suitable therapist for you. Once arrangements are in place to start, sessions thereafter will be held weekly, at the same time for 50 minutes.

I am a registered member of BACP (MBACP) and adhere to their code of ethics. My work is supervised and I am fully insured.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
