About me

Hello there, and a warm welcome to my profile.

I understand that in a sea of therapists, it can feel quite daunting trying to find the right one for you!

There are times in all of our lives when things just don’t feel right. You may feel a quiet sense of unease or a loud sense of things breaking down. You might be aware of pain you’ve carried for years, or something more recent that’s shaken your foundations. You may be coming with a feeling of discomfort that might be hard to name, or have experienced a crisis that you are painfully aware of every moment of.

Perhaps it’s something much more specific: grief that keeps returning in waves, an old trauma that’s never been spoken out loud, the ache of difficult relationships, or the exhaustion of carrying too much for too long. You may have managed well for years, even decades, but now find yourself yearning for change.

Whatever brings you here, I offer a safe and respectful space where, together, we can begin to make sense of things.

What I bring to counselling
Over the past 30 years, I have worked professionally with people in all kinds of pain — emotional, psychological and existential. I have sat alongside those in crisis, in confusion, in despair, and with those quietly trying to piece themselves back together again.

Alongside my extensive professional training, I bring a myriad of life experiences, including living across different cultures; navigating institutional systems that rarely make space for individuality, complexity and nuance; learning the deep value of processing emotions such as shame, anger and grief, and allowing reflection and stillness to anchor clarity, strength, and self-belief.

My style is not clinical or distant — I strive to stay alert to the power dynamics that can come with this work and aim for something a bit more collaborative, thoughtful, and deeply human.

I don't assume I know what is best for you. Instead I listen deeply, ask questions gently, and pay attention to patterns of behaviour, to what feels stuck and what might be trying to shift or come to the surface.

Compassion and prizing the uniqueness of each individual are my strongest personal and professional values.

What matters above everything else is that our work feels meaningful and personal to you.

My Approach
Every person who walks through the door (or appears on the screen!) brings their own unique, lived experience into the counselling space. I work in a way that is collaborative and responsive, taking a pluralist integrative approach, and drawing on a range of therapeutic approaches, including Person-centred, Psychodynamic, Existential, and CBT, and adapting them to suit your personality, needs and life experiences. Sometimes processing through talking is what’s needed. At other times, we might pause, take our time, and work more creatively or reflectively, whatever feels most helpful to you.

Who I Work With
I welcome clients from all walks of life, and am particularly interested in the kinds of issues that don’t always have easy answers:

* Relationship difficulties
* Trauma
* Loss, grief, and despair
* Third-culture identity and cross-cultural relationships
* The legacy of Boarding school experiences, International schooling, and the European School system
* Religious, spiritual, and sexual abuse/trauma (particularly in Evangelical, Fundamentalist, and Presbyterian contexts)
* Experiences of sex work
* Twin dynamics
* The complexities of the mother–daughter relationship
* Low self-worth/low self-esteem/low self-confidence
* Life as a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP)

A Few Practical Things
I work face-to-face, in-person in Perthshire, Central Scotland, and online
I offer 60-minute sessions
I work with adults, older adults and older adolescents (17+ in Scotland, 18+ elsewhere)
I provide weekly sessions only (not fortnightly or monthly)
I work with individuals (not couples or families)

A Final Word
It isn't always easy to reach out for help. It takes real courage, especially if you are used to managing alone, but do remember that you don't need to have it all figured out before you reach out.

If anything here resonates with you, you’re most welcome to get in touch. There’s no pressure—just a gentle invitation, the promise that you will be heard and the quiet presence of hope.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
