About me

Sometimes life can be overwhelming. This can present itself in many ways; Depression, anxiety, loss of hope, feeling lost. These feelings can manifest themselves in confusing, unconscious, habitual behaviour or a sense of internal conflict. Sometimes we feel stuck, trapped and unable to move forward.

Counselling creates an contained space with vital components for personal growth within a safe, nurturing setting. Inviting clients to explore their internal world, increase their self awareness, while feeling supported through the process. This can make way for real, meaningful change and clarity.

My name is Shelley, I am a genuine, trustworthy, compassionate person. Who is dedicated to providing a safe, non-judgemental, confidential and supportive environment. I work with my clients with empathy to gain an understanding of their experiences, to enable them to feel heard and held through what can be very difficult emotions. I work with clients to help them to access their inner resources, helping them plant seeds for growth or light at the end of the tunnel. I'm an experienced counsellor/ psychotherapist who delivers a warm, professional and affordable service.

I am an integrative counsellor; which means I work with several modalities:

●psychodynamic
Exploration of conscious and unconscious material. Childhood experience.
●CBT
Unpicking thought and behaviour patterns.
●Person- centered
Providing a safe space, for self actualisation
●Gestalt
Experiential
●Transactional Analysis

I am also a trained yoga teacher, and have a passion for work with the mind/body connection in relation to trauma, CPTSD, general anxiety disorder and depression.

As a believer in the saying 'one size does not fit all' and an insight into just how unique and individual peoples needs, circumstance, history and perception can be. It can be beneficial to clients to be flexible in approach and work with what fits the client.

I can offer long or short term counselling.
I also can provide home visits where needed.
Telephone counselling available.

Skype sessions available.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
