About me

Hi and welcome to my profile.

I am an Integrative Counsellor which means I am trained in psychodynamics, CBT and Humanistic (person centred) therapy. I use a combined approach to help my clients deal with their issues as I believe that no single approach can treat each client in the situations they are experiencing as everyone is all unique and one approach may not be beneficial.

I am also Trauma Focused trained which is a specific approach to therapy that is rooted in understanding the connection between the traumatic experience and the person's emotional and behavioural responses. The aim of Trauma Focused therapy is to offer the client skills and strategies to assist you in better understanding, coping with and processing your emotions and memories which are tied to your traumatic experience/s. The end goal being to create a healthier and more adaptive meaning of your experience.

Are you tired of the negative chatter in your mind? Your negative self talk? Lack of motivation? Living in your past trauma? Feelings of regret, disappointment from a relationship breakdown? Have anxiety or suffering with depression?  All these and more can have an impact on your everyday life and confiding in family and friends doesn't always feel right or helpful. When this happens it can be beneficial to talk about your problems to a neutral person who you know will not make any judgements. Exploring these problems in a confidential, warm space with me can help you to face challenges, make changes and move forward in a way that is best for you.

I am very passionate about helping you overcome your issues and care for your psychological and emotional well-being. With my support, you will be able to understand yourself and your struggles with more clarity, recognise what is holding you back and make positive change happen. I also have experience of working with difference and diversity and sensitive to the cultural and ethnic origins of others and to their religious beliefs and sexual orientation.

I have worked for Women's Aid counselling clients who have experienced domestic abuse and also see male clients who are victims of domestic abuse through Mendas. I have experience working with clients with various difficulties; domestic abuse, bereavement, depression, anxiety, guilt, PTSD and family issues.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
