About me

I am an Integrative Counsellor who uses a range of counselling techniques and traditions to ensure my clients benefit from an approach designed to meet their individual needs.

My practice is integrative however I utilise Cognitive Behavioural Therapy extensively having studied the application of CBT at Masters Degree level.

Over my years as a Counsellor, I have built up a wealth of effective coping strategies for a wide range of different issues that can help to bring about meaningful and long lasting change.

As a registered and accredited member of the BACP, I abide by its code of ethics which ensures high standards of ethical counselling practice. I also have an enhanced DBS check, professional indemnity insurance and extensive safeguarding training and experience.

As my client you can expect to find a welcoming, confidential and non-judgmental space where you can explore any thoughts or feelings that have been causing you emotional pain, confusion or difficulty.

In my experience, some clients may just want a safe, therapeutic space to explore and make sense of their difficulties which, in itself, can enable change and growth to occur. For others, they may have specific goals such as learning to cope with anxiety for example and this is why an integrative counselling approach can be very effective as the therapy is tailored to the needs and preferences of the individual.

I have undertaken training in delivering therapy in the outdoors (Ecotherapy) and also online so sessions can be offered face to face or via Zoom, depending on the preferences of the client.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have been working therapeutically with children, young people and adults for over 20 years. I work as a School Counsellor and also provide counselling online to university students, Axa clients and NHS clients with high level mental health needs.

With degree level qualifications in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Youth Counselling and a Masters degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy, you can be assured that the theoretical knowledge underpinning my practice is comprehensive but, most importantly, I build trusting and supportive relationships with my clients to enable them to overcome their difficulties.

I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, awarded for 'the achievement of high standards of knowledge, experience and development in counselling and psychotherapy' and practice in line with the BACPs Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
