About me

Therapy and/or coaching can be transformative, helping you increase confidence and self esteem, manage self doubt, improve relationships and overcome difficulties so you can, put simply, thrive day to day.

Working with me can help you:

  • find your way through life change and transition
  • work out what you really want
  • improve relationships, both personal and professional
  • manage staff comfortably and confidently
  • recalibrate to move forward
  • feel happy and confident at work
  • navigate growing older and menopause more easily
  • parent in a satisfying way
  • wake up feeling good day to day
  • work with something else entirely

How I work

I offer warm, compassionate and supportive space in which you can explore and come to understand yourself, address difficulties and gain emotional skills to help you to live in a way that feels truly satisfying.

I start with the premise that you are the expert on you and that I am walking alongside to support you and help draw your attention to things you may not have considered yet, and share skills you may be missing.

I believe in the important yet often neglected capacity we have to know ourselves through physical connection, and may invite you to explore mindfulness and ‘tuning in’ to your physical experience as a way of connecting deeply with, and understanding yourself.

Other skills we may work on include: using and managing your anger well, limiting the power of your critical voice, overcoming self doubt, enhancing self esteem, setting boundaries, and connecting with, and trusting, your inner voice.

I am a passionate nature lover and believe in the power of the natural world to help us deal with life, often turning to the seasons and nature's metaphors to inform and enliven our work together.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

After being put on a diet by my mother at age 7, developing a compulsive eating disorder, recovering from this and yet living in a body considered overweight by society, I am very interested in the way we think about ourselves in relationship to our physical appearance and what society expects of us, as well as our relationship with food.

I walk my talk and will bring my full personality to my work with you.  I have a distinct dislike of misogyny and the pressures that woman absorb around how we are 'supposed ' to be.

Additional information

Therapy sessions last 50 minutes and take place either in person in Camden on Wednesday afternoons or online at other times.   They are usually weekly.   The fee is £80.

Coaching sessions are usually fortnightly and may be longer.  The fee charged depends on the length and frequency of sessions.

About the first session

This is a chance to meet and talk about the things that are leading you to consider therapy or coaching and explore how I might help.  We can see whether we feel comfortable together and I'll answer any questions you have and explain how we might proceed.   Initial sessions take place in person or one Zoom and are charged for.

Ahead of our initial session we will have a brief chat on the phone so I can answer any questions and set up a date to meet.

About my Room

The Therapy rooms where I see my clients in Camden are warm, comfortable and inviting, with a lovely kitchen space where you can help yourself to a cup of tea and a biscuit if you'd like.
