About me

Are you feeling overwhelmed, depressed or anxious? Do you feel haunted by your past? Does it feel like you’re not in the driving seat of your own life, repeating the same patterns of behaviour that have a negative impact on you or others around you? Do you want things to change?

It’s very easy in today’s world to become lost, not able to navigate our way through and find meaning, which can lead to feeling like we have no compass guiding us. We might lean on people, places or behaviours that help us to cope at the time but take our power away. I work with people who want to find their way again.

I'm not a magician able to snap my fingers and make all your worries disappear (I really wish it was that easy). The reality is that I am another human being, learning how to make my way in this world too and I’ve picked up some tricks along the way. Therapy can be really hard work at times and requires a real commitment to lean in when things get hard or scary. To get the most out of this you have to really want to make some sort of change happen. This work is never fully done but from my own personal experience, it has the potential to completely change your life.

I remember feeling weighed down by life and the idea of therapy scared me because of what I might find once I started to explore everything I’d been carrying. What I’ve learnt is that we all have light and dark parts within us; I believe a big part of healing is getting to know all these parts, where they came from (often from past trauma) and how they impact on our lives now. I aim to help you work on healing wounds from your past so that you are more able to live in the present and shape your own path into the future.

It's so important to find someone who you feel you can talk to openly and build a trusting relationship with. If I sound like someone you feel you could connect with then get in touch and we can arrange a free consultation.

Whatever you decide, I hope you find what’s right for you.

Sam

Training, qualifications & experience

I'm a fully qualified and insured Therapeutic counsellor.

Over the past 10 years, I’ve been working therapeutically with people who are experiencing a wide variety of issues in their lives. I aim to walk beside and help you on the path to heal yourself. The most important thing is building and maintaining a trusting relationship in therapy, where you feel safe to explore whatever it is that you need to heal.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
