About me

I offer an integrative approach, that can be short or long term. I'm a qualified person centred and psychodynamic counsellor with experience of implementing CBT. I offer a bespoke service that can incorporate aspects of ecotherapy, mindfulness, play/art therapy and working creatively.

I can support you with issues such as anxiety, bereavement, miscarriage, chronic  illness, divorce, relationship issues, family issues, addressing habits, phobias, self-harming, gender issues, sexuality issues, panic attacks, childhood trauma, adult trauma, neurodiversity, low mood...

I work with adults and children/adolescents, families and couples. I have extensive experience working in primary and secondary school settings both in a SEND capacity and as a school counsellor.

I offer attachment theory informed therapy and am qualified to conduct Adult Attachment Interviews (AAi) (Additional costs apply).

I complete regular continued professional development and adhere to the BACP ethical framework as a registered member.

I offer a 30 minute initial consultation to see if I am the right therapist for you. Giving you the opportunity to ask questions and for me to tell you more about how I work.

Counselling can help you feel empowered, be kinder to yourself, set boundaries and make the changes you want to see in your life.

"The divine light in me bows to the divine light within you." Namaste

Client reviews:

"I've been with Sam for about two months and already she's helped me a lot. I've already seen a lot of growth with my behaviour. She's very welcoming and easy to talk to and helps me consider solutions to anything I talk about. I feel I can trust her."

"Working with Sam has been amazing! With her help I have completely turned around my thinking and have a much more positive outlook on myself and life. She has been so understanding and helped me work out what my values are. I would highly recommend working with her. She has been very open minded and friendly and produced some very positive results."

"I had worked with a few therapists before connecting with Sam and am pleased  that I finally found someone who was in a position to connect and work with me. My previous experiences had made me less open to the therapeutic process but Sam instantly put my mind at rest with her professional and friendly manner. She was not only able to quickly assess my underlying challenges and begin an appropriate treatment but she gave me space to understand what was happening for myself. I cannot thank her enough for her guidance and support. Through her work Sam has not only positively impacted my life but also the lives of those around me."

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
