About me

I am a psychotherapist and counsellor and my practice is called Simi Sara. This name means 'Relax into Yourself' and I aim to help you do just that.

We are coming out of tricky times and trying to adjust to a new normal. For some, previous issues are resurfacing, as old coping mechanisms no longer work. Now seems a really good time to reach out for support in areas where difficulties still exist or to explore new beginnings.

You are welcome to my practice. In my work, I try to support you in exploring past issues while we look at current problems and forge a path forward. I aim to provide the space for you to release what weighs on your mind as we work together to help you live easier in your world.

If you are dealing with (or have lived with) issues such as relationship difficulties, anxiety, panic attacks, feeling sad or feeling low, stress, dissatisfaction, racial identity conflicts, low self-confidence, stuckness, needing to escape, abandonment, family issues, boarding school experiences, student or university life problems, drug and alcohol addiction, work problems, loneliness and general emotional or psychological stresses, I offer my support.

Sessions with me are weekly at a time convenient for you. We can work together in-person or via Zoom, in long-term, open-ended or short-term therapy. We can talk about specific issues or general problems, and I can join you in personal journeys you embark on.

Do get in touch if you feel that I may be the one to walk with you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a psychotherapist registered with UKCP (United Kingdom Council of Psychotherapy) and BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and I hold a Master's degree in Integrative Psychotherapy.

I am trained in various psychotherapeutic modalities and I am culturally aware. I also hold a Master's degree in Environmental Management.

Aside from seeing clients in private practice, my experience includes working in community counselling services, drug & alcohol recovery and government departments.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP

UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
