About me

Hi there, my name is Rebecca.

Thank you for visiting my profile!

Choosing a counsellor can be a difficult task and I aim to provide clarity on what I would offer you as your counsellor to help you make the best decision for you.

Counselling is a form of talking therapy which provides an opportunity for you to talk about any issues or problems you are facing. I will meet you with a warm and open curiosity so that, together, we can make sense of things, find a new perspective or understanding of yourself and your life experiences.

I work predominantly in a person-centred way, really this means that I hold the belief that you already have within you the capacity to embrace change and become who you really are. My role is to provide the conditions for this change to occur. Imagine a plant, all plants have the capacity to grow but not without the right soil, water, light and nourishment. I would be privileged to be alongside you in this process of self-discovery and understanding, creating a nurturing space for you to grow. I won’t guide you or tell you what to do, I will listen, create space and be non-judgemental throughout our time together.

Counselling is an investment of time, money and energy. I invite you to visit my website or email me to find out more about working with me if you have any further questions or concerns.

I have experience working with anxiety, low mood, depression, work and relationship challenges, grief and loss, self-esteem, self-injury and suicidal ideation. I am open to working with any presenting concerns, however if I feel my experience and knowledge is not sufficient enough to support you adequately, I may discuss referring you on to somebody else who may be more suitable for you. My intention as a counsellor is only to help, not harm, and working beyond my capacity would be unethical and unprofessional. This will be discussed during our initial phone call or first session.

I spent time in a Mental Health Support role at Northamptonshire Mind, meaning I have an understanding of adult mental health issues and also of useful services that can offer mental health support. Sometimes, mental health support is about building a community and network around you, so my knowledge can come in useful if I feel the need to signpost you to further services to compliment our counselling work.

I have also worked for a young person’s counselling charity for three years, this work is incredibly rewarding.
