About me

Hello ,my name is Pauline, welcome to  The Cornerstone Counselling Service  .

I am Person Centred integrative counsellor and live in March, Cambridgeshire.

I want you to know that I truly understand that when considering counselling for the first time it can feel very scary especially if its the first time that you are seeking counselling. I hope that after you have read my bio that you feel that I have reassured you and taken the mystery out of counselling.

I work from home and this gives me the opportunity to offer you a comfortable ,confidential space where we can look at why you feel that you would benefit from counselling. It may be that you have been struggling with feelings of frustration, anxiousness or anger. This could lead to difficulties in your personal or professional relationships. Together, we can look at what you feel you need that will help you achieve a happier 'You '

Counselling - what to expect working with me.

My aim as a counsellor is for you to feel comfortable and to enable you to express exactly what you maybe feeling, I can help you achieve this by simply listening to you, it is important that we feel listened too and are actually 'heard' . Our lives can be busy and sometimes chaotic. I understand just how difficult and overwhelming life can be. It is vital as your therapist to know that you feel at ease and confident when working with me. This will allow for a nurturing relationship to develop and will help you achieve a successful outcome.

As a Person centred counsellor my aim is to help you find the answers that you may have been searching for, this can help develop a deeper self -awareness too. It may be the case that over time you may have you lost confidence in yourself - my promise is that you will always be treated with dignity, compassion and care.

I may be a counsellor but I  am also human, and I have a friendly and light-hearted personality. So, if it's appropriate, I may also implement a touch of humour into our sessions, which previous clients have been grateful for!

Training, qualifications & experience

  • NCFE Level 1 introduction to Counselling
  • NCFE Level 2 Counselling
  • NCFE Level 3 Diploma in Counselling Skills
  • CPBACP Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic .Counselling.

As a member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), I work within their ethical framework offering individual counselling in a variety of ways and approaches.

I am trained as an integrative counsellor, I draw on more than one type of counselling approach and combine them to work with different issues. My professional working background has always centred around people. As a dental nurse, I also have experience in dealing with anxiety and stress. I had the opportunity to work with patients from all walks of life from all over the world.

I have worked in the NHS and with Social Services and had the privilege working with adults with learning disabilities, where my role was as a house manager for a respite unit . It gave me an understanding of the challenges the families and care givers experience. I was in fortunate position to complete my counselling placement in a GP practice supporting patients of all ages with a range of complex range of issues and challenges .

I recently completed a course with CHOICES for victims of childhood sexual abuse, and in the past, I have had experience of volunteering in various areas:

  • CRUSE bereavement
  • Age UK
  • Adult Abuse
  • CHUMS  - charity supporting the mental health for young children and teenagers.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
