About me

Please note: I am only working online at present.

Therapy can help us all, for we each experience lows and dark times - as well as the beautiful moments.

The chapters of my own life influenced my becoming a counsellor and as one, I bring insights and learning experiences shared with me, by the many people I have met - that real-life wisdom, different from the abstract notions in self-help books. Over the years, I have supported many clients in exploring and confronting their thoughts and feelings, helping them to make sound choices and changes for their increased happiness.

I firmly believe that a strong therapeutic relationship enables nourishment, healing and empowerment. When two people work together with focus, trust and all that therapy entails, change happens. Not everyone is suited, but if we are... expect good changes!

I know, with good therapy, we can be empowered to identify what we really want from our lives, and then unearth how we can go about making the changes that will enable us to live better, be more authentic. I believe we can all learn to develop better a understanding of ourselves and in doing so, we become our own cheerleaders and protectors. We find our strengths and resources, we become more resilient, we do better in coping with ourselves and others, and we go for our goals.

Working both short and long term with clients, I am only working online at present. Thank you!

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified counsellor and a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). While qualifying, I studied different theoretical approaches to counselling which enables me to create an appropriate and integrated approach for each client. This may also include elements of coaching. Further qualifications include:

  • Certified Practitioner of NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming)
  • Qualified NLP Coach
  • Certified Practitioner of Time Line Therapy
  • MSc in Education, Power and Social Change
  • BSc (Incorporating Gender Studies)
  • Diploma in World Religions

Previously, I taught and mentored trainee and qualified teachers, gaining first-hand knowledge of work-related issues such as stress, performance anxiety and burnout. The insight and skills I attained have proven to be invaluable in my counselling and coaching.

I practised at Waterloo Community Counselling which provides multi-ethnic counselling as part of its service. This experience strengthened my knowledge and understanding of inter-cultural therapy, which is sensitive to the importance of race, religion, culture, language, values and attitudes, as well as how these intersect with other parts of our lives such as relationships and sexuality.

I also practiced at a specialist counselling and psychotherapy organisation, focusing on a positive approach to sexuality and relationships across the gender spectrum, with any identity and sexual orientation.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Those 30 minutes can help you decide that and there is no obligation to continue with me.
