About me

Hello and welcome to my profile, I believe that life is difficult sometimes, it can be caused by changes in personal circumstances or because established ways of being have stopped working. All which can leave us stuck and struggling to cope with overwhelm, and finding a comfortable sense of ourselves and our needs. My aim is to support you in finding a way out of that place and getting to your better outcome.

I'm a warm and compassionate person who works to build a safe relationship with you, so that you can explore yourself and your emotions in the knowledge that it will be at your own pace, without judgement and in private.

Starting therapy is brave in itself and so I offer an initial consultation with you so that we can see if we would be able to work together and you can ask any questions or express any worries to calm your nerves.

I became a therapist after a first career being a lawyer, so I have experience of the working world and its challenges, and I am an adoptee so know relationships are not always straightforward for everyone. My life and therapy training means I can help with a wide range of difficulties including abuse, anxiety, depression, menopause, birth trauma, young people (over 18), bereavement, work-place issues, substance abuse and addiction, neurodiversity, and men's issues.

I work in an integrative way which means I take several types of therapeutic approach (CBT, Psychodynamic, Gestalt and Humanistic) and blend them together to give you the best combination to help you, because everyone is different and so the therapy should be made for you. It would be great to hear from you if you think I could help.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Masters in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy Studies (a level 7 qualification) and an Introductory Certificate of Counselling. I am LLB and a member of BACP.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
