About me

Hello my name is Nicola Clark, thank you for taking the time to visit my page.

By visiting here you have already taken the first step on your counselling journey. I hope my page explains how I can help you further and take the next step.

I have experience in a wide range of issues such as anxiety, depression, worry, work related stress, health issues, low self - esteem, relationships and family issues. I have additional training and a particular interest in infertility & IVF, women’s health including endometriosis, adenomyosis and the menopause, pregnancy & infant loss and bereavement, loss & grief.

I have my own lived experiences of women’s health issues including endometriosis, adenomyosis, infertility, IVF and a newborn baby in intensive care. Along with this I have had significant losses in my life, all of which led me to seek therapy myself. I therefore understand the importance of choosing the right counsellor and how difficult it can be to make that first step.

I am a fully qualified & experienced Integrative Counsellor. My core model of practice is Person Centred Counselling with the option to integrate elements of CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), Psychodynamic Therapy and Transactional Analysis. This allows me to adapt how I work to meet the needs of each individual client.

Person Centred Counselling is a type of talking therapy which allows clients to explore their thoughts and feelings. By providing a safe and warm environment for my clients in time they can move towards the change they desire. I accept my clients for who they are and will listen and support in a non – judgmental way.

My skills and experience have also developed with the Volunteer work I carry out at Mental Health Therapies Wirral and Cruse Bereavement Wirral.

I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association For Counselling and Psychotherapy) and I adhere to their code of ethics.

I am also an individual member of BICA (British Infertility Counselling Association).

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
