About me

About me

I am a psychotherapist/counsellor and believe that it is the relationship/connection between you and me that will enable YOU to create the change you may be looking for in your life.

Focusing on YOUR needs and concerns that have brought you to a point of looking for support via therapy by listening, exploring and non-judgemental understanding, we can unpick those sticky points that may have resulted in you feeling, lost, unheard, confused, isolated or misunderstood to bring about a sense of understanding and acceptance of who you are.

We all carry bits from our past into our present lives and sometimes these result in unhelpful or self-limiting coping mechanisms.  My integrative training allows me to create a unique method of working with you that will enable you to feel heard, supported and empower you to feel confident in exploring those difficult feelings to find a new way of being.

I am a registered member of the BACP, DBS cleared, insured and have regular 1:1 supervision.

Background

Before training to become a psychotherapist/counsellor I was a nurse in a busy operating department of a London teaching hospital, so have experienced and can understand how stressful environments and trauma can impact our lives and why being able to communicate is so important.

I have worked as a volunteer within sport supporting teenagers in a highly competitive environment often away from home, so can understand the pressure they might find themselves under.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
