About me

With over twenty-three years of experience in the mental health field, I am a skilled bilingual psychotherapist with a Doctorate-level qualification. I offer therapy services in both English and Farsi, utilising an integrative approach tailored to each client's unique needs. My expertise spans Humanistic, Psychoanalytic, Existential, and Cognitive Behavioural approaches, with a specialisation in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Cross-Cultural therapy.

As a cross-cultural therapist, I specialise in working with individuals and couples who come from diverse backgrounds. This includes couples from mixed cultural backgrounds as well as individuals who may be struggling with their identity within a different culture.

Moreover, I am certified as an advanced-level Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapist. EMDR therapy is designed to address conditions involving traumatic memories. I utilise the most advanced equipment available (EMDR Kit), incorporating personalised visual and auditory bilateral stimuli, to optimise the effectiveness of the therapy process.

As a clinical supervisor, I support students in training and provide guidance to colleagues in their professional practice.

In my therapeutic role, I guide clients through their journey in a non-judgmental and collaborative manner, fostering autonomy and empowering them to discover their strengths and internal resources. I work with individuals, couples, and families, addressing various issues including relationship problems, depression, anxiety, panic attacks, anger management, stress, personality disorder, confidence and self-esteem, phobias, OCD, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), HIV-related concerns, sexual abuse, bereavement, and addiction.

I provide therapy through both in-person and online sessions, with flexible scheduling including evening and weekend slots. I accommodate short-term, medium-term, and long-term durations to suit the needs of my clients.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I am specialised in Cross-Cultural Therapy (CCT).  CCT is a specialised approach that acknowledges and respects the diverse cultural backgrounds of individuals and couples. It recognises the impact of culture on mental health and well-being, addressing how cultural factors influence thoughts, behaviours, and emotions. Using CCT I work collaboratively with my clients to explore and navigate the intersection of their cultural identities, helping them understand how these identities shape their experiences and perspectives. By fostering cultural awareness and sensitivity, my aim is to create a safe and inclusive space where clients can freely express themselves and work towards healing and personal growth and improve their relationships, regardless of their cultural background. I particularly work with couples with mixed cultures and backgrounds.

Further information

As an experienced therapist, I am dedicated to providing compassionate and effective therapy services to individuals, couples, and families. As a proficient bilingual psychotherapist with a Doctorate-level qualification, I offer therapy sessions in both English and Farsi.

Here's what you can expect from our sessions:

- Initial Assessment Session: Our first session will be an opportunity for us to get to know each other and explore your concerns in depth. I'll ask questions to understand your background, current struggles, and goals for therapy. This initial assessment is crucial for us to establish a strong foundation for our work together.

- Collaborative Goal Setting: Based on the insights gained from the initial assessment, we will work together to set therapeutic goals that are meaningful and achievable for you. I believe in a collaborative approach, where your input is valued and respected. Your goals will guide our work and serve as markers for progress throughout our time together.

- Personalised Therapy: I tailor my therapeutic approach to suit your unique needs and preferences. Drawing from a range of therapeutic modalities, including Humanistic, Psychoanalytic, Existential, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), I will incorporate techniques that are most effective for you. Our 50 minute sessions will be a space for exploration, insight, and growth.

- Supportive Environment: I provide a safe and non-judgmental environment where you can freely express yourself and explore your emotions. You can trust that our sessions are confidential and focused on your well-being.

- Monitoring Progress: s we work towards your goals, we will regularly assess your progress together. I encourage open communication about what is and isn't working for you in therapy, so we can make adjustments as needed to ensure you are getting the most out of our time together.

I believe in the power of therapy to facilitate positive change and help you live a more fulfilling life.
