About me

How I can help You

Do you feel like you are carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders? Worries may build up over time and the heaviness never seems to get any lighter. I can offer you an empathic and confidential space to talk about what is troubling you. I can help you to voice your thoughts and feelings when it may feel overwhelming. I will listen to you without judgement and work with you to make the changes which feel right for you. Whatever your worries are, we can talk and try to untangle them together and explore how the worries are affecting you. They may be affecting the way you think about yourself and those close to you, and getting through everyday feels like a chore.  You might be feeling anxious, bereaved, or suffer with low self-confidence. Perhaps past life experiences are still affecting you today, or you may have concerns for the future. Our trusting therapeutic relationship will provide you with the space to undertand your anxieties and help your world to feel manageable.

It's all about You

Counselling is a space solely for you. Your experience of life is unique to you- no one knows how it feels to be you. It may feel difficult to get through each day carrying around how you really feel, whilst being who you have to be. A therapeutic relationship is unlike any other relationship you may experience with family and friends because it is all about you and there are no expectations on how you need to be. I believe your life experiences matter and connect. I can help you to explore these connections and what they mean to you. Through our therapeutic relationship you will develop self-awareness and feel empowered to make the changes which feel right for you.

Counselling is for Everyone

My practice is anti-discriminatory and believes that all persons are entitled to access a counselling space which is free from prejudice and judgement. I recognise that your life story may reflect your identity, values and beliefs. The differences and diversity represented within communities is particularly important to me.

Taking that first step

Whether you are dipping your toe in the water or have previously engaged in counselling, it may feel like a scary step to take. I hold no expectations on how you need to be as a client, and will work with you to develop a trusting therapeutic relationship. I care about my clients and will work alongside you to help you through the difficulties you are experiencing. Having a safe space to feel seen and heard is valuable for our mental health, where it may be feeling continuously challenged.  I am open to any questions you may have about the issues you are experiencing or counselling in general and can arrange for us to have a free short initial consultation over the phone. I offer in-person counselling sessions at locations in Worthing and Littlehampton, and remote sessions via video call or phone. In our first session we shall talk about what brings you to counselling, what you hope to gain from your sessions and how my counselling service could work for you

What counselling means to me

Counselling is more than an occupation to me; it is something I believe in. Having experienced counselling myself and engaged in the therapeutic process, I felt motivated to qualify in a profession I feel passionate about. The core of my work is Person-Centred which means our sessions are focused around the issues you choose to bring. I may draw on different approaches to explore aspects of your issue, for example I may invite you to use sand tray therapy if it is difficult to put feelings into words. As we reflect on issues together you'll develop a deeper awareness of your self and through this process you may start to find a way forwards.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
