About me

The Issues I Work With, and How I work:

I work with a variety of issues, as you never know where a client is going to go once they start to open up.

Nowadays lots of people come along with some kind of anxiety that's impacting their life.

Anxiety is the fear of the present and future, and that can stem from a past emotional event in their lives, such as a bereavement or parental split when younger, bullying, abuse or possibly illness.

Our subconscious looks after us, but has no timeline. So anything that has happened to us gets remembered by our subconscious, and the way we may have got through something in our past, could be the way we are still getting through similar stuff today, without realising it!

For example, have you ever not liked someone but not really known why? Perhaps it's your subconscious remembering something about someone in your past. It could be the tone of their voice, or the way they dress, or an accent, which leads to warning signals and the need to get away.

If you mention your past, I will usually take you back there. In counselling we go back there consciously, but if you can't remember and you need to remember something from your past that will help you move forward, I will then ask if you would like hypnotherapy. This is where I use age regression so that you can find those hidden memories, although it may take a few sessions of hypnotherapy before your subconscious will allow hidden memories to be found.

We can go between hypnotherapy and counselling, depending on what you bring out.

How I can help you:

I try to make you feel at ease, you don't have to say anything you don't want to say, because I know once you get comfortable and start to trust the process, you will want to say it.  So I don't push you.

Also, I don't sit there in silence and make you feel uncomfortable. If you're worried about talking through your issue at first, you can just tell me about you. What you do from day to day, your job, family, friends, etc.

Once you get talking, I listen with no judgement. What my client's like is the fact that they can tell me their deepest stuff and I won't tell anyone they know. So they feel safe, and that's important.

I try to help you make connections to your past. I have many clients who've had those 'light-bulb' moments in my room. When they suddenly realise that the reason for the way they feel or behave is closely related to something that happened years ago.

I can relate to this, and will tell you that I came into counselling because my baby son died at 3 days old. 10 years later when I had my second son (yes that is a long time, but I went through some stuff along the way), I was so scared. Scared if my baby got too hot or too cold, scared if he kept crying for no reason, and ultimately terrified when he went to sleep. But of course I would feel like this, I knew reality. So I had to work through my past in order to enjoy the present with my second son.  And there's the connection.

If you would like to know a bit more on how I can help you, please book a free, no obligation phone chat with me. I can talk to you about how counselling works and you can get to know me a bit before you decide to book a session.

Further information

As well as a counsellor, I am a hypnotherapist and love using hypnotherapy as a tool in counselling.  Inner child work is something that has a great impact on my clients.  The majority of us will need to go back into our past in order to go forward, and for many this means going back and looking at childhood.  Age regression in hypnotherapy is fantastic in helping people unlock memories, whether positive or negative, and look at those memories from a safe view point.  If you are someone who possibly blames yourself for something that happened to you when you was young, or maybe it happened to someone else, then age regression and inner child work will help you to recognise that maybe it wasn't your fault.  And this is the most empowering phrase that many of my clients use after having regression.  The healing then starts.  Clients choose to dip in and out of hypnotherapy along their counselling journey, it just opens up more of the subconscious and helps you to make connections with the conscious mind.
