About me

Do you ever find yourself feeling like you're not good enough or that you're not as deserved as those around you? Maybe you're full of self-doubt or feel unable to live your life in the way that you would like to?

Sometimes we find ourselves feeling overwhelmed; life can be tough and can throw challenges our way. I recognise that during times like these it can all seem too much and we can struggle to find a way through our own difficulties. I can help you to work through the issues that are holding you back, allowing you to become your most authentic self and find inner peace, understanding and happiness leading you to live a more fulfilled and empowered life.

I work in a predominantly Person-Centred way which means the counselling I offer is non-directive and is underpinned by the relationship between the two of us. Our sessions will be led by you, and we will work together at a pace that suits you. I offer a warm, compassionate, trauma-informed perspective and work to help you understand the root causes of your behaviours and ways of interacting with others; enabling you to make sense of what is going on for you.

I will listen to you attentively to ensure that your voice is heard, and will work with you genuinely and respectfully to understand and accept your experience. I will offer a safe, non-judgemental environment which will enable you to reflect upon your issues, discover your inner strengths, and find the resources to change.

My therapeutic training is underpinned by my degree in Psychology, which provides me with a deep and unique understanding of psychological processes, helping me to further understand the hurdles that life can throw at us and how they affect our wellbeing.

I am a fully qualified Counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). This membership means that I am fully committed to ensuring the best professional practice, guided by the BACP ethical framework. What this means for you is that I am a caring and understanding practitioner offering high professional standards.

My particular specialism is working with adult survivors of sexual abuse and childhood trauma as well as young people aged 14+, however I have experience of working with a variety of issues, including, but not limited to: anxiety, depression, bereavement, family issues, low self-esteem/confidence, eating disorders, anger, self-harm, stress, relationship issues, domestic violence and suicidal thoughts.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
