About me

One of the reasons I became a counsellor is because I know first hand how liberating it can feel to talk about issues and concerns impacting your life.

I am here to help you navigate feelings of sadness, anger, frustration, and pain. If you are feeling depressed, feeling hopeless or dealing with challenging personal issues, life situations and relationships, I can't work miracles but am here to support you.

A lot of my work involves listening and empowering you to increase self awareness, and make decisions. I combine talking therapy with CBT techniques to help you cope and deal with unexpected and uncomfortable feelings. An example of this may involve gently challenging you to give another perspective or support you with developing coping techniques. This is only when you feel ready to take the plunge to dive deeper into what may be going on for you on a deeper level. Sometimes it doesn't make sense to us why we behave and respond to uncomfortable situations the way we do and having a neutral space can help you process the discomfort in your life and manage unresolved past feelings.

You may ask, what makes me so unique to other counsellors.?

I have a genuine interest in supporting people with emotional challenges and struggles and on a personal level recognise the value of feeling heard and being accepted.

My specialism is dealing with low self esteem around identity and body image issues, divorce, separation, dating coaching, relationship issues, bereavement, anxiety, depression, anger management, trauma, student issues, nuerodiversity and work related stress. I am also a trained bereavement counsellor. My day job involves teaching and coaching young adults in the further education sector.

Reaching out and booking the first therapy session can feel scary which is why I feel its a good idea to book a free initial consultation session so that you can see if I am the right counsellor for you. This is also a great way for us to connect.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have an NHS background with experience  of working in the primary care sector, supporting clients with mental health issues.

I am a trained Bereavement Counsellor and did my training with Harrow Bereavement care. I have acquired specialist skills to support clients with feelings of loss and separation.

I have CPD training in solution focused therapy to enable you to deal and manage feelings of anxiety, stress and depression.

My specialist interest is centered around supporting clients with relationship issues and challenges. This involves applying CBT techniques in sessions to improve communication, empathy and conflict management. I also have an interest in supporting clients with attachment and trust issues in relation to dating and building new relationships.

I am currently working within the further education sector, delivering mental health tutorials to students. This has enabled me to deepen my connection with young people by giving me a real insight into the emotional struggles and challenges they face within their personal and educational life.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
