About me

There are times when life feels confusing and overwhelming, maybe even unbearable. It might be a recent life event or a specific issue, or there may be experiences or memories from your past that you feel are affecting how you behave in the present in relationship to others and yourself. Perhaps you just want to understand yourself better. Talking to a counsellor offers you a space where you can explore your feelings. This can help you to notice the unhelpful or destructive patterns that accompany you in your life which can ultimately help you to gain a greater self-understanding and enable you to move forward in your life and relationships. With this there is an opportunity and possibility of change.

I am a BACP registered integrative therapist, working with clients on a broad range of subjects including anxiety, depression, anger, grief and bereavement, family issues and low self-esteem. My style of working means that I draw from several theories of practice. I believe that each of us is unique and what might work for one person may not for another and so I am able to work in a way that will be most beneficial to you and your needs. Central to my approach, is the therapeutic relationship between us. I provide a safe, nurturing and non-judgmental space where you will be heard and met with compassion and care.

Above all, by taking this step and showing this care and compassion for yourself, you are already on the path to gaining a deeper awareness and understanding of yourself and making the choice to make change and growth possible.

What to expect when we first meet

After our first communication we can arrange an initial assessment. The aim of this is to meet face to face, or online if that is how we will be working, and for you to see whether you would like to work with me as your therapist. The assessment is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions about how I work. If you decide to come to therapy, the sessions are at the same time every week for 50 minutes.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Diploma in Integrative Counselling (DipCon) awarded by the Minster Centre in London, one of Europe’s leading institutes for Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and practice according to their ethical framework.

As well as running my own practice, I have worked as a counsellor at a low cost womens’ counselling service and as a bereavement counsellor for Wandsworth Bereavement Service.

I offer short term, long term and open ended therapy.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Wheelchair user access
Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.

I work from home and access is on the ground floor. There is free parking available on my road.
