About me

My approach involves understanding how your experiences and unconscious thoughts and feelings affect you. Moods, behaviours, relationships, sleep, anxiety, sadness, and much more can be better understood in the context of what we've been through or are going through and how this informs what we think about ourselves and others. Deepening our understanding and having a confidential place to do this work can open up space for change in ourselves and in our lives.

With individuals, I work with a variety of presenting concerns such as depression and low mood, anxiety, low self-esteem, sexual issues, anger, and family and relationship difficulties. I also specialise in the areas of suicide, grief and loss, and work with those bereaved because of suicide.

With couples, I work with various concerns such as anger, sexual issues, resentment, infidelity, and communication difficulties. I also work with transitions couples may be navigating such as parenthood and changes to employment or residence, or navigating a transition of separation or divorce.

My work with couples is GSRD inclusive: this means I work with all gender identities as well as non-monogamous and polyamorous relationships in which three or more individuals may be involved in the relationship(s).

Finally, I see people who are in non-romantic relationships as well. For example, some 'couples' who seek counselling can be parent-child, business partners or co-parents.

Training, qualifications & experience

My training and experience are in working with individuals 18+, with couples and with groups. I specialise in relationship issues, sexual issues, bereavement, bereavement because of suicide, suicidal ideation and grief and loss of all kinds. I also have experience working with trauma, anger, anxiety, and low self-esteem.

My core training is in psychodynamic and person-centred modalities. I have a post-graduate qualification in counselling and psychotherapy from the University of Edinburgh; I'm a qualified clinical supervisor; I have a COSRT Accredited qualification in working with relationships and couples. I'm trauma-trained, GSRD-informed and friendly, and welcome inquiries of all kinds - if I'm unavailable or unable to support you, I will recommend colleagues who may be able to help.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
