About me

I studied and worked in the field of health and wellbeing for twenty years, and worked as a health coach before studying to become a counsellor. To me, becoming a therapist reflects my passion for the value of counselling and its potential to improve lives. My primary aims in working with clients is to listen, and to provide a warm and non-judgmental relationship where clients can freely express and explore their thoughts and feelings, and in particular where they currently feel stuck.

The services I offer:

As well as face-to-face at central location in Cambridge, I am currently offering 'online counselling', and in person 'walking counselling' within the Cambridgeshire area.

('Walking counselling', otherwise known as; 'walk and talk therapy', is when the client and therapist walk together, outdoors amongst nature. All 'Walk & talk therapy' is initially carried out online, as a way of mutual introduction. Once we have conducted the initial consultation, and got to know each other, 'walking counselling' can be an available option within the Cambridgeshire area.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), the largest and broadest association for members of the counselling professions in the UK. I adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy and I undertake regular one to one supervision.

I have a variety of training/qualifications in physical and mental health, and have studied various models of therapy. I have worked therapeutically in both a local charity setting and in private practice with people from a wide variety of cultures, ages and backgrounds.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

How the sessions are carried out:

All initial sessions, including consultation, are carried out online, as a way of mutual introduction from the comfort of your own home. Once we have got to know each other and developed the relationship, 'walking counselling' can be an available option. Developing the relationship online first, may help some people feel more at ease meeting up in person for the first time for walk & talk sessions.
