About me

Hello, my name is Marta.  Welcome to my profile and thank you for considering therapy with me.

I am an Integrative Psychotherapist/Counsellor offering face to face sessions in my office in Nottingham, via online platform (Zoom) or on the telephone. I consider myself a warm and caring human being and I understand that right now you may be experiencing a range of conflicting feeling and emotions and thinking about starting therapy can certainly feel daunting.

How I work

At the heart of my practice is creating a relationship with you based on warmth and mutual respect. I can offer you a confidential and non- judgemental safe space to explore your feelings and speak your unspeakable. I believe that we all have the ability to change to become the best version of ourselves. We are all unique and I embrace that uniqueness. I also believe the change occurs when people are offered a relationship that is different to what they have experienced before. Therapy helps us to discover who we truly are, to heal old wounds, and move on with other lives, becoming who we were meant to be.

Getting started

We will work together at the pace that feels comfortable for you because the client is at the heart of my therapy and the therapy is client led, which allows you to focus on, talk through and explore how you are feeling in that moment.

I offer both short and long-term therapy best suited to your individual needs. I draw from a range of counselling and psychotherapy approaches to provide the right support for you.  Both short and long- term work will have the aim of enabling you to enhance your life and to live it more fully.

Experience

Prior to practicing as a psychotherapist, I worked in the public sector which I believe adds a unique dimension to my approach. I gained experience of working with domestic violence, child abuse, rape, relationship problems, and a broad spectrum of mental health issues like anxiety, depression, panic attacks and trauma.

I hold a keen interest in working with people affected by cancer or other chronic illnesses. I experienced a life-threatening illness myself, and it certainly changed my perspective on life. I also have experience working with people experiencing loss through bereavement, loss of a much-loved pet, divorce, affairs or other break ups. In the past I worked as a volunteer for the Cruse Bereavement Charity.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
