About me

Hi and a very warm welcome. I'm Maria, a Humanistic Counsellor offering evening online, and telephone, sessions 7pm - 11pm, Mon - Wed, and an option of face to face Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons, for 16+ and Adults.

Sometimes the challenges and struggles we have in our life can have a direct impact on our living it. At times these may feel overwhelming or difficult to cope with, we might even feel stuck there and maybe a little lost on where to go from here.

Challenges of:  Struggling with Anxiety, Depression, having Low Confidence and/or Low Self-Esteem, dealing with conflicting or confusing emotions, Relationships, having suffered Abuse, dealing with Grief or maybe having to deal with major life transition like Redundancy,  are just a few examples.

I want to help you navigate these challenges and struggles so they might just feel less overwhelming and more manageable.  Hopefully leading to you becoming more confident and self assured, so that you can discover ways through any stuck-ness. To finding yourself no longer feeling a little lost anymore, instead, you finding healing and a way forward.

What can I offer you?

  •  I offer you a safe and non-judgemental space.  There is no right or wrong way on how you want to approach counselling and there is also nothing that is too big or too small for you to bring.
  • I offer a supportive place, an accepting and trusting space where you can feel safe to explore any issue, or any challenge.
  • I bring a calm, warm and empathic environment. Our sessions will be collaborative, and will be at your pace.
  • I offer a caring environment where you will realise you are not alone, a place where we can face challenges together.
  • A space to explore what you're feeling and why you're feeling that way and gain a deeper understand of yourself. As our trust in each other builds, I may challenge your thoughts and feeling to help this understanding of yourself more, as this can help toward your developing effective coping strategies and help towards your taking more control of your life.
  • As a Humanistic Counsellor, I believe we are all unique individuals,  no one person is the same, and no one challenge is the same. In recognising your own uniqueness we can explore different techniques/tools that best suit you, in helping you manage these challenges.

I see counselling as a therapeutic process where we are both engaged in working together to support your personal growth, enhance your well-being, and improve your overall quality of life.  I believe that seeking counselling is a sign of strength, I know It takes courage to make that first proactive step towards improving your well-being and I would be honoured to be part of your journey.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
