About me

Hello, my name is Lucy.

If you are considering reaching out to a counsellor, perhaps for the first time, looking through the different profiles, it can be difficult for you to decide which counsellor will best suit your needs. It may help you to know, research has found that the most important factor in therapy is the quality of the relationship with your counsellor. Finding someone who will hear you, free of judgement and that you feel safe with is key.

Clients often feed back that my warm, calm and sensitive way of being has been beneficial to them in their therapy and has helped in building a strong, professional therapeutic relationship.

Looking at the qualifications and experience of a counsellor is of course also important when making your choice.

I am an integrative counsellor which means I am able to tailor the counselling experience to each individual client drawing on many different theoretical approaches and techniques.

I hold a first-class honours degree in counselling and a degree in psychology. I have experience of working with a wide range of individuals with a wide range of issues from my work with counselling charities, schools and private practice.

I have been working via video and telephone for over five years, completing several thousand client sessions online and hold a post-qualification certificate in online counselling.

All of this expertise doesn't make me the expert on you or your story though, that expert is you. My training allows me to assist you with techniques and interventions to help you on this journey.

My work is inclusive, I respect everyone as an individual.

If you feel I could be the right counsellor for you please feel free to get in touch. I am pleased to offer a free initial chat via telephone or video lasting 15 minutes so we can explore if I might be the right counsellor to support you.

Lucy.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
