About me

Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. I am a Supervisory Psychotherapist and Qualified Mental Health Nurse. I offer Individual and Couples Counselling via Face to Face, Skype and Telephone sessions. I have a special interest in Trauma including PTSD and Abuse as well as Depression and Self Harm.

At the start of the 2020 Pandemic /Covid-19 outbreak a number of my clients were nervous about transitioning from face to face therapy to receiving on-line therapy and telephone counselling sessions. These fears were confronted and explored as part of our sessions and as time has gone on many clients have said that they found the on-line sessions beneficial but still preferred face to face sessions. As a result of the feedback from my clients I began to research Walk and Talk therapy. On a personal level I have long known the benefits of walking in areas of natural beauty to improve my mood, anxiety levels and overall mental well-being. I walk everyday and have done for the past 7 years. In July 2020 I introduced walk and talk therapy to existing clients and new referrals to my Service. I have been amazed by the uptake for this additional service and delighted that so many clients have both enjoyed and benefited/ continue to enjoy this exciting new way of accessing therapy. Please let me know if you would like to try a walk and talk session as part of your therapeutic experience.

With over 40 years experience in both the military and the NHS I offer both counselling and Psychotherapy to adults (18 years upwards) who are experiencing emotional and mental health problems. I also offer mental health well being assessments, comprehensive assessments and Risk assessments. I also liaise closely with GP’s and other services if a referal to another service is indicated and required .

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
