About me

I am a qualified Couples Counsellor who supports couples and individuals with management of their relationship issues. Whether you want to stay together, think you need to break up or have simply fallen into a boring routine with each other, I would be happy to work with you.

I will work with you in a way that combines the skills and theories of my CBT training with the more Psychodynamic approach of my Couples Counsellor training.

Most of us learn our communication and negotiation skills in our childhood families, the classroom or the playground.  To have healthy adult relationships, we often need to update our communication skills and understanding of how relationships work.  I can help you do this and move towards more healthy relationship patterns.  My hope is that the insights my clients gain now will also help them maintain healthy relationships in the future.

I have a decade of experience working with people who are suffering from the effects of Adverse Childhood Experiences(ACEs) including addiction issues, abuse, neglect, violence, suicide of a family member, bullying and trauma.   ACEs can lead to huge difficulties in adulthood including chronic anxiety and depression, attachment insecurity low self esteem and relationship issues.

I also have a wealth of experience in helping couples and individuals who have diagnosed and undiagnosed neurodiverse conditions such as ADHD and autism to live the most fulfilled lives that they possibly can.

The best way to contact me is by email.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Diploma in Counselling, a CBT Approach - The Centre of Therapy, Glasgow
  • Certificate in Couples Counselling – Relationship Scotland

As well as my relationship work, I also have many years of experience working with addictions, mental health problems, trauma and adverse childhood experiences.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
