About me

www.sisu-counselling.co.uk

"You are not broken, you don't need fixed, You are hurt you need someone to care."
I am an integrative counsellor with over 19 years experience in psychology, counselling and mental health. I provide expert and completely confidential help, in a safe and empathic environment. Here, you can work on whatever issues may be troubling you – from anxiety and depression, to relationship problems, trauma, low self-esteem, and more. I offer highly-focused brief counselling or long-term psychotherapy, as required. I am able to provide sessions to adults and young people. I am a trained relationship counsellor providing counselling to families, couples and individuals.

PROFFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE MCOSCA
What makes me different from the crowd? An essential aspect of every good counsellor is having the training and knowledge of working with specific types of problems but by itself, this is not enough. Your specific life challenges have shaped and affected you differently from everyone else. You are a completely unique, intricate individual made like no one else and it is on this which we will build our therapeutic relationship to achieve your chosen goals – a relationship in which I will help you feel safe, accepted, valued, heard and unjudged. This is at the core of my practice.

I am aware that going in to counselling can feel momentous and many people feel nervous, worried and shy. My role is to help you through difficult times and to allay your fears and concerns and also to help you make changes tiny and large so you can create the life you wish to lead.

I work with both children, adults and couples. I offer an all-round therapeutic approach and my areas of expertise are anxiety, depression, eating disorders, body dysmorphia, gender identity, panic attacks, mild psychotic incidents, suicide ideation, couples, adolescents, anger issues and support for couples at every level of their relationship including better endings.

I have also helped families who are struggling with a range of issues, especially often when their children reach the teenage years. Sometimes adolescents prefer counselling by themselves, sometimes with their families to work through what systems are in place that might need looking at.

I am happy to work in person and potentially on Skype and Facetime. I work from my home Dumfries and Galloway, I am also happy to have an initial session in person or by phone to work out what a person potentially needs.

Key details

Wheelchair user access
Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
