About me

Hello there

I’m Lee and I’m a friendly and compassionate therapist who works in-person in  Aigburth in South Liverpool along with on the telephone and online within the UK and internationally. I am a registered member with the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy.

What would I offer you if you were to begin therapy with me?

I would seek to work with you in a dynamic and relational way whereby we would be in partnership together, helping you to explore any barriers you might be facing or any hurdles you would like to overcome. I believe firmly in being an ally to you while you begin the process of working towards an enhanced quality of life and a greater acceptance of yourself. I recognise that there is no clear rule book on how to live a meaningful life although appreciate that good psychotherapy can be a useful ingredient in making the overall recipe turn out well.

It’d be great to hear from you to explore if we could work together.

Here is what some of my former clients have said about me:

Lee helped me through the worst of times following my mother’s traumatic illness and death; she and I were very close and her loss hit me like a juggernaut. One of Lee’s great strengths is that he is incredibly perceptive and insightful - somehow he just ‘gets it’, no matter how complex or even incomprehensible you think your emotions and thoughts are. Crucially he helped me to gain a sense of perspective to cope with the loss but he also helped me develop as a person through the grief. It’s clear to me Lee is a complete natural and that, combined with his evident experience, make him an exceptional therapist. - Vanessa

I came to see Lee at a time in life when I was struggling with a range of issues that seemed insurmountable. Lee created a space in my life that felt safe, encouraging, and supportive. With his help I was able to work through the things that were bothering me, and work out how to move forward. - Pete

Lee supported me through a very difficult period when I was dealing with visual impairment issues. He helped me navigate these issues with a down to earth, humorous and empathetic talking approach that was non-judgmental and supportive. Lee created a safe environment where we could examine the intense emotions and anxiety I was feeling, where I felt I could say anything and Lee would help guide me to a thoughtful and helpful way to move forward. I strongly recommend Lee as a therapist.  - Tracey

I received grief counselling from Lee which was both profound and life changing. Lee’s warmth, humanity and empathy made each session feel safe and comfortable. Due to his sharp mind and wit I came away with useful personal insights, whilst laughing through the tears. I cannot recommend Lee highly enough. If in doubt I suggest you just go for it, if nothing else you will come away feeling better about yourself. - Michele

I have always been apprehensive of counselling, but when I started visiting Lee during a particularly difficult time in my life, I immediately clicked with him in such a way I have never clicked with a therapist before. The sessions, though naturally difficult at times, never felt like a chore, and each session left me feeling more like my multiple complex problems were a little less tough to face week after week. Lee has an exceptional talent for introducing new ways of thinking into your daily life, most of which I wrote down and use like mantras for those tougher times. He also has such an incredible clarity of thought and a gentle way of leading you to your own conclusions, so much so that our sessions often felt like a really good chat with a friend, leaving me less burdened and better equipped to cope with everyday life. He helped me navigate through the confusing maze of challenges I was facing, with such care, compassion, love and joy that I cannot BUT recommend him highly.  I feel privileged and grateful to have met him, and for the wisdom he gave me. You will not be disappointed if you decide to work with him.. - Cal

Training, qualifications & experience

I achieved a Masters Degree (with Distinction) in Counselling & Psychotherapy Practice where the modality in focus was Person-Centred Experiential. Prior to this, I achieved other therapeutic qualifications including an initial introduction to psychoanalysis.  I am currently developing my knowledge in compassion focused therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, solution-focused brief therapy, and existential humanistic psychotherapy. I identify as an integrative humanistic psychotherapist which means that I would seek to support you in the most appropriate therapeutic way while holding a strong belief in your potential. I would never seek to be an expert on you. I have experience of working with a wide variety of issues and people from all walks of life in several different settings. I am clinically supervised by a Transactional Analyst.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
