About me
I am a Counselling Psychologist with experience working in both the NHS and private practice. In my clinical work, I take a non-judgmental and supportive approach and at the same time work with my clients to go deep. As I don't believe that one kind of therapy suits all, I work to understand the unique needs of each person and integrate different therapies accordingly.
I aim to give my clients a safe space to explore their difficulties and enhance their understanding of their struggles. Together, we might examine how past experiences may be influencing the present, how feelings may be intense and sometime intolerable, how harmful choices are being made and why, how we sometimes behave in ways we don't want to be behaving, how to deal with others in conflict, etc. Because insight isn't always enough, I also help my clients identify the practical steps that needs to be taken in order to make important changes.
I have been extensively trained in a variety of therapies including Cognitive Behavioural therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT) as well as Person Centered Psychodynamic Therapy.
I have extensive experience working with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, stress, burnout, addiction, life transition, relationship challenges, low self-esteem, work issues and family strain as well as grief and loss.
I see myself as a collaborative guide, rather than an expert who holds all the answers. I value and deeply respect who my clients are as well as the wisdom they already possess. By working closely with my clients, I aim to support them in gaining the clarity, skills and greater self-acceptance to move through life with more ease and meaning.
Born and raised in Cape Town, I moved to London in 2005. I undertook my training at City University of London where I earned a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology. I can offer therapy in both English and Afrikaans.
