About me

Hello I am Laure Jackson. I am a qualified counsellor  with particular experience of working with pregnancy loss, fertility issues and bereavement. I also have a passion in supporting the teaching profession. As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP), I work in accordance with their Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.

I offer a safe, non- judgemental, supportive space to enable us to explore whatever brings you to counselling. My counselling approach comes from being person -centred, which means I value you as an individual. You can expect to be listened to and received non- judgementally, authentically and with empathy so that together we build a trusting, warm and confidential therapeutic relationship.

I work with a humanistic approach which encompasses a range of models with the underpinning belief in the potential of each human being to instinctively grow and change. Each of us is unique and creative; has inherent worth and deserves respect.  Sometimes life throws things at us which mean we get stuck and cannot function in the way we would like to.

Perhaps life is complicated or distressing for you right now?  I strongly believe in the client being the expert on themselves, however journeying alongside another in therapy can help begin or continue the process to greater self-awareness, acceptance and change.

Maybe you have experienced bereavement, loss or change, suddenly or over time, and you are not able to speak to or be heard by those around you. I am here to journey with you to help you make sense of how you are feeling.

I have over 30 years’ experience working as a teacher supporting young people both within Secondary education and University settings. I am also Mum to two teenage daughters.

I am passionate about supporting my clients in being able to recognise their potential, lead happier lives and function more fully in their relationships. Research suggests, and it is my experience, that when we are our most authentic selves change is most likely to occur.

I have availability on a Monday daytime and early evening

I offer face-to-face or online therapy, depending on client's preference

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
