About me

I offer confidential, online sessions, free from judgement, for you to explore whatever is troubling you. Life can feel really overwhelming sometimes. You may have had experiences that have left you feeling lost, confused, trapped, anxious or depressed.  You may be struggling to make sense of what is happening to you.  Perhaps you don't know how to process the thoughts and feelings that keep you stuck - so that - even though you want to feel better - you just don't know how or where to start.

Whatever has brought you to therapy, I offer a safe, compassionate space in which we can work out together what you need next to get your life back on track.  The process of counselling can be empowering and deeply transformative and bring greater fulfillment in your relationships in many areas of your life. I will walk alongside you at your pace, so that you can feel calmer and more confident to face challenges and we will work to find a way forward that feels right for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully-trained, qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor: this means I can draw from many different counselling concepts such as CBT- cognitive behaviour therapy, Gestalt, Person-centred, Transactional analysis, Psychodynamic, Mindfulness. I have extensive further training in trauma informed care.  I am a registrant member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society and I follow their ethical guidelines. As part of my professional practice, I have regular counselling supervision from another qualified counsellor to ensure that I am working ethically. I also undertake a minimum of 30 hours continuing professional development training every year to enhance my existing skills. I am fully insured with Holistic Insurance.

I have experience of working with adults bringing a wide range of issues and very diverse life experiences to their therapy sessions. Some of the many issues that my clients have brought to therapy include anxiety, depression, work-related stress, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, childhood abuse,  trauma, loss and bereavement and changes in identity, including sexual identity and coming out.

I also have extensive previous experience of working in the education sector, in which I gained a sound appreciation that every person is a unique human being and that it’s a privilege to be involved in a person's journey. I decided to train to be a counsellor after a particularly difficult time in my own life, during which I found support from counselling invaluable in helping me make changes and discover a new path that was right for me.

Additional information

I offer a free, 15 minute telephone consultation, in which you can briefly describe what you need support with, ask questions and find out whether to proceed with therapy.

If you need something different or I do not have the availability you need, I may be able to refer you to a colleague. I work in an open ended way, in which you decide how long we continue working together and what approaches feel helpful for you. If you decide to work with me, we will have regular check-ins to evaluate how your therapy is going for you and if there is anything else you are needing from it.
