About me

Welcome to my profile! My name is Katie and I am an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist. My priority is to ensure you have a safe, non-judgmental space to explore your difficulties.

Deciding to start counselling can be nerve-wracking. It is important to feel comfortable, safe and empowered on your therapeutic journey. I provide bespoke sessions to match your individual needs and therapy goals. These will be your sessions; they will always be carried out at a pace that you feel comfortable with. The duration of your therapy can be open ended or a fixed number of sessions, depending on your preference.

I use a combination of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Attachment Theory and Person-Centred approaches in sessions.

Working in this way means that I am able to support you in working on your current difficulties, but there is also an opportunity to explore your past. This can give you a deeper understanding of yourself, your behaviour patterns and your relationships to support personal growth and make positive steps towards your goals.

I have experience of working with a wide range of difficulties including:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • OCD
  • Trauma
  • Intrusive thoughts
  • Abuse
  • Relationship difficulties
  • ADHD
  • Autism
  • Eating disorders
  • Self-harm

I have particular experience of working with women and girls who have diagnosed or suspected ADHD.

Please take a look at my profile below for the full list of areas that I work with.

What happens next?

It is important that you feel comfortable and happy within the therapeutic relationship in order to get the most out of your sessions.  With this in mind, I offer a free 20-minute consultation with no obligation to continue.

Your initial consultation will be a chance for you to outline the areas you would like to work on, to gain an idea of a therapy style that would be most beneficial to you and to get a 'feel' of what sessions will be like.

If you decide you would like to work with me, a session time will be arranged with you.

Sessions are usually weekly but I do have a limited number of fortnightly slots to accommodate different financial situations.

They can be carried out face to face, online or phone call depending on your preference.

The first step towards getting support can be nerve-wracking but I am here to support you in deciding if you would like to take the next step along your therapeutic journey.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
