Kath Dentith MSc (Psychotherapy); CTA; UKCP Registered
I am a qualified psychotherapist and counsellor with 25 years' experience. I work in partnership with people in a way that helps them to feel safe to talk about their difficulties. I listen carefully to people so they are able to understand their experiences and make sense of their situation. I support people to explore their available options so they are able to find a way forward that will enhance their sense of wellbeing.
I have worked therapeutically for over 25 years with parents, couples, individuals and young people. I have been employed during this time in government and voluntary organisations and I have had a private practice for 12 years.
The people I work with often seek help when they are feeling distressed and their usual strategies, such as talking and seeking support from others, do not help to settle how they are feeling. I have frequently worked with people who struggle with problems that are rooted in their past or who seek counselling to overcome recent and ongoing stressful life events. Sometimes, their problems can be less obvious such as experiencing unpleasant feelings that cannot be described, and others who have a sense that 'something is wrong', either with themselves, their relationships or their lives.
I am respectful of all people and their relationships and have worked with people from a diverse range of backgrounds.
Please see below for my areas of counselling and expertise.
I would welcome a short telephone conversation if you wish to discuss your situation or require any further information.

Other areas of counselling I deal with
I have worked extensively supporting parents of children/young people who present with behavioural and relationship difficulties. Parenting can be highly rewarding whilst at the same time challenging and stressful. Often it can be helpful to talk to an experienced person and have the opportunity to build confidence and implement different strategies to manage your child's behaviour.
Please contact me for a short telephone conversation if you wish to discuss your situation, and whether I am able to support you with the particular difficulties you and your child/young person are experiencing.
I charge £50 for a 60 minute session for individuals. I charge £60 for a 60 minute session for couples and family work.
I offer an introductory session of 50 minutes which provides you with an opportunity to talk about your personal circumstances and your expectations of counselling. This session provides the opportunity for us to decide if we could work well together. As such this session is discounted to £25 for individuals and £35 for couples and families.
I provide a limited number of reduced cost therapy places to those on low incomes, benefits and students.
I offer both brief and long term therapy.
