About me

As an integrative counsellor I believe in the therapy experience being individual, yet tailored to the specific needs for my client. I believe all therapy approaches have their place in treatment but also that sometimes individual clients may not work well with a particular approach. I enjoy having the chance to be creative with my clients, to use different tools in exploration and making therapy interesting, ultimately having a positive impact on my client to aid recovery.

I have an 18 year mental health background working for the NHS alongside the crisis management team and a background previously of working in psychiatric nursing. I have a specific interest in working with Autism and have completed Autism awareness courses and CPD in order to enhance my skills and knowledge. Specific difficulties I often work with include:

  • Generalised anxiety
  • Phobias
  • Compulsive behaviours
  • Depression
  • Low self confidence
  • Adjustment and life stages
  • Life events (bereavements, divorce)

During therapy I consider the individual throughout the journey, discussing preferences and approaches to tailor the treatment to your needs in order to reach your goals. I offer therapy session face-to-face in-clinic at Chesterfield, or via telephone or TeleHealth. I am happy to consider home visits where appropriate following an in depth risk assessment if local.

I offer a free 15-minute consultation via telephone for anyone that may be unsure about commencing therapy or wishing to ask any questions. This can be booked online.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a BACP registered counsellor and UK Counselling Society accredited counsellor and psychotherapist. I am a registered mental health nurse to the level of qualified state enrolled nurse. I currently work as a psychotherapist as part of a team in private practice, here I continue my development and skills through regular training. Recent training includes:

  • Domestic Violence
  • Cognitive Behavioural Interventions
  • Self Esteem and confidence
  • Autism Awareness
  • Single Session Therapy
