About me

Sometimes the world can seem a dark and difficult place.

Counselling can help you.

We all  have times when we struggle and need help.

Major life changes, bereavement, anxiety, stress can leave us unsure of what to do next and can feel overwhelming. When you feel stuck in that difficult place I can help you to understand your feelings and to make changes that allow you to live a different life, to become the person you want to be.

Has your life has become too stressful or too complicated? Are you having difficulty juggling all your thoughts and responsibilities? Or are you experiencing relationship difficulties?

It can be easy to lose sight of who you are and who you want to be.

Mostly we manage to get through the difficult times but sometimes it is hard to see the way forward and talking to a professional counsellor can provide support and understanding.

I can help you to understand how you came to this place, and how to develop good coping strategies.

I create a safe space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings and a relationship where you can feel supported and not judged.

I will work with you to help you to achieve your goals, allowing you to move forward to a happier, healthier future.

Talking to a qualified Counsellor is proven to work.

What I offer

I offer both face to face sessions and remote working via video and telephone.

I work with you to explore your experience of life, your worries and how you came to this difficult place. Together we will help you to gain understanding and insight to overcome trauma and negative experiences that keep you from living the life you want.

I will help you to gain tools and build skills to manage stress and cope with depression and loss, and build self-esteem and a positive sense of yourself.

Accessing counselling is a big emotional and financial commitment, but it is also a positive investment in yourself and your future.

What to expect in your first session

We will talk about what has brought you to counselling and what you would like to achieve through the work.

I will explain to you more about how I work and what I can offer you. Together we will plan how to move forward.

Please give me a call and we can discuss your situation and what you are looking for from counselling. I am very happy to answer any questions you have.

You can contact me by phone or email, and I am happy to arrange an initial meeting to discuss the best way forward. I aim to reply within 24 hours.

Training, qualifications & experience

Qualifications

I am a member of The British Association for Counselling Psychotherapy BACP having graduated in Integrative Counselling from Newman University.

Experience

As well as working in private practice I worked for several years in a Family Centre and before that in a busy Occupational Therapy Department.

We all experience difficult times in our lives and mostly we are able to cope with what life throws at us, but sometimes it can be beneficial to reach out to a professional for support whilst we process what is causing us pain or difficulty.

I help clients who are experiencing a wide variety of issues around anxiety and panic attacks, bereavement, relationship and family difficulties. These could be current or historical but are having a negative impact on their lives. These difficulties can lead to depression, anxiety and low self-esteem, and addictive or obsessive behaviour. I also help clients with a history of abuse and sexual identity issues.

Other clients are experiencing difficulties in their working lives, whether the issues are related to workplace stress or issues in their personal life that are impacting on work.

I can help with a wide range of issues, including Abuse, Anxiety, Addictive behaviour, Bereavement, Depression, Family breakdown, Illness, Loss, Low self-esteem, Relationship problems, Sexuality, Stress, and Work related issues.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
