About me

There are times when the challenges of life can make us feel overwhelmed and isolated, and it may feel difficult to talk about how we feel to those who are closest to us. We go through transitions and crises, and we experience uncertainty and loss. How we deal with difficulties in life is fundamental to how we carry on forwards and ultimately who we become as people.

There are many reasons people come to therapy and it may not be for a major life crisis. It may be that you are just struggling a little and a few individual sessions are all that you need to give clarity to move forward.

It may be that you have come become 'stuck' and need to work out where you have come from and to untangle where you are now heading with more longer term work.

Counselling is helpful for many, varied reasons. These are just some of the issues that I can support you with:

Anxiety and OCD
Individual, couples, or family problems
Work related stress and pressure
Difficulties in feeling, expressing or managing emotions
Feelings of emptiness, loneliness or despair
Relationship difficulties at work and/or at home
Procrastination or lack of motivation
Assertiveness or low self-esteem
Recent distressing life events, such as divorce or bereavement
Low mood or depression
Past trauma or abuse

I am an integrative counsellor and an accredited member of the BACP.  I work with individuals, couples and families.  Alongside my private practice I have worked for over ten years with a large London NHS Trust where I provide psychological support to medics, nurses and other NHS staff.

As an integrative practitioner I draw on a variety of different therapeutic approaches including psychodynamic, humanistic and existential theories, and cognitive behavioural (CBT) and mentalization (MBT) based techniques.

I work collaboratively with clients to build a strong and secure therapeutic relationship and tailor therapy to fit each individual.

What to expect
Making the decision to seek out counselling can be a relief, but can also be an uncertain and worrying time. In our first session we will talk about how counselling can help you and what you should expect from our sessions. I offer long and short term therapy depending on what you are looking for and what issues you are bringing along.

About My Practice
I offer in person therapy at my practice which is situated in Rayleigh, Essex.  My treatment room is a quiet, comfortable space where you can relax and feel at ease.  I also offer online and telephone counselling if needed.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
