About me

Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile, I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist in adults, children, and young people, which I gained from the University of South Wales. I currently work for Monmouthshire County Council, part-time as a school’s counsellor/psychotherapist within a team of professionals, to children in a comprehensive school setting. I have previously worked for Mind, where I was part of the Wellbeing and Counselling team. I have successfully worked with people of a variety of genders including Male, Female and Non-Binary. I have experience of working with people who present a variety of issues from anxiety, low self-esteem, self-harming, depression, trauma, relationship problems to suicidal feelings.

After receiving counselling myself for personal reasons I found that this helped me immensely in being able to move forward in my life. This in turn gave me a passion and drive to want to qualify as a counsellor/psychotherapist so I could help others like I have helped myself. I truly believe that it can make a difference in your life, life is full of challenges but there are occasions where we struggle with these difficult times and have the realisation that support is needed outside of friends and family. I hope to give you the space to make sense of what is happening and how you are feeling. To support you in the way you feel is needed, this could be the result of trauma, anxiety, grief or loss, depression, the list is endless but all significant to us as individuals in its own right. I will provide a warm, confidential safe space which is non-judgemental giving you the freedom to be your genuine self. By doing this we can start your journey of exploring, yourself, your fears, your concerns, and your hopes as you are the author of your own life.

I am a registered member of the BACP, as stated I am an Integrative Psychotherapist but have also trained to use a number of theories being person centred, DBT, TA, and psychodynamic which means I am open to changing and adapting the way I work to suit your needs. I hope by doing this I am able to gain an understanding and a sense of who you are and at times walk in your shoes on the journey we will take together. My overarching way of working is that you are at the centre of our work together and doing this at your pace. My commitment to you is to work from your needs and goals whether this requires short or long-term work. I hope that you are able to gain a deeper understanding of yourself and wellbeing essentially empowering you to make a difference in all paths of your life.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
