About me

Talking is not always easy, especially to someone you have not yet met. When I first met my counsellor, I was relieved to find an empathetic and non-judgemental person who just wanted to listen to what I had to say. It was the first time I had felt truly heard and understood.

Through my training and experience, I feel this is now what I am able to offer to you. A safe space for you to talk about any struggles or difficulties you might be going through, or just a place to feel heard.

I have a lovely office in Whiteley Spaces, Fareham. Please feel free to contact me and ask any questions you may have.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Level 5 BTEC Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
  • Level 3 in Therapeutic Counselling
  • Level 2 in Counselling Skills

I have experience working in both short and long-term counselling settings.

One setting was for a charity that specialises in baby loss. I worked with both men and women (some for over a year) who were grieving the loss of a baby through miscarriage, termination and stillbirth. Together, we moved through the different stages of grief. This work was very emotive and I believe much of my experience comes from this setting.

I also worked in a short-term focused counselling setting. I would see clients for 6 sessions and together, we would focus on one specific goal. Some examples were building self-confidence/self-esteem/self-worth.

My modality is Person-Centred. This means the sessions are led by you, the client, and we talk about whatever you bring to our session. This type of psychotherapy consists of your self-discovery and understanding of who you truly are. My modality also believes that every person has the capacity for growth and development.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
