About me

I am a person-centred therapist and my approach is to offer empathy and a space where you feel safe enough to talk freely and without fear of judgment. I offer weekly sessions in person in my comfortable and peaceful garden room in Lewes or online, short term or open ended therapy, depending on your needs.

People come to see me with a range of issues. There may be a particular issue you are facing such as bereavement, loss, relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression or addiction. Or perhaps you are feeling 'stuck', a sense of overwhelm, experiencing loneliness, low self-esteem or a feeling that you have lost your way in life.

My Approach

As a person-centred counsellor, I will work with you as an individual, getting to know you and understand you and I hope enabling you to get to know yourself better.  My approach is to create a warm and accepting environment that allows you to share whatever you are experiencing.  My aim is that we can work collaboratively together through the difficulties you are facing.  Our work will be centred on your individual needs and what works best for you and your unique circumstances.

Why Come to Counselling?

Life can be tough at times for a million different reasons. You may be feeling overwhelmed or you may feel that what you are experiencing seems to you to be trivial or unimportant. No problem is too small and whatever you are facing, I offer warmth and a space for you to feel heard. Counselling can really help to process, unravel and to gain perspective. It can help make sense of your experiences and their impact on you and it can enable you to move forward in a way which feels in tune with who you are and how you want to live your life. Please feel free to contact me by phone or email or visit my website if you would like to have an initial chat and I can answer any questions you may have.

Training, qualifications & experience

About Me

Alongside my private practice, I also work in a low-cost community counselling service and I see a wide range of people with a range of issues and life challenges. I have also worked as a counsellor with an addiction service, where I received specialised training in how to work more effectively with this client group.

I currently work with clients who have been bereaved and have received additional training in complex grief.

I am fully insured and work within the ethical and professional framework of the BACP.

Qualifications

  • MA in Life History Research, University of Sussex.
  • Foundation Degree in Person-Centred Counselling, University of Brighton.

Alongside my qualifications, I undertake regular supervision and CPD and I aim to keep on top of recent research and to make my practice the best it can be to meet you needs.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
