About me

Hi, I’m Jenny, and I am a BACP registered counsellor working with adults in person and online in Edinburgh city centre. I work pluralistically which means tailoring my approach to suit your needs and personality. I offer a safe, supportive, and empathic space to help process any thoughts, feelings or behaviours that are causing you distress. Perhaps you feel disconnected in life or maybe you have a sense that something is not right, whatever it is that’s troubling you, I will help you explore what may lie behind any unanswered questions, as well as support you with any changes you wish to make.

I aspire to create a safe place for you to be your authentic self without judgment. I believe everyone has their own unique way of telling their story and I will listen carefully to yours. I know from personal experience how daunting it can feel to take that first step, which is why it is always a privilege and honour to work with all my clients.

Get in touch if you would like a free introductory discussion either over the phone or online, to see if this type of counselling is the right fit for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a BACP registered counsellor with a Masters in Pluralistic Counselling and Psychotherapy from Abertay University.

I have previously worked in the voluntary sector taking GP referrals from clients with a variety of ages, backgrounds, and cultures, and would describe myself as open and accepting of all lifestyles and choices. I hold experience with a broad range of issues including people who have needed support with anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, relationships and low self-esteem, in addition to a wide range of others.

I have personal experience with ADHD and hold an interest in working within this field having attended various workshops and training as well as my own research.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
