About me
Hello and thank you for reading my profile in Counselling Directory. I have been working as a Holistic therapist for over 30 years with an ongoing interest in health and well-being. My focus has shifted from treating the body to a more Holistic approach that encompasses body, mind and spirit.
I believe that counselling enables me to support people in achieving greater independence, autonomy and fulfilment. I can support you in changing negative patterns of behaviour that affect your self esteem and confidence.
Starting counselling can seem daunting and overwhelming, but I want to reassure you there is nothing to fear and that I will take every possible step to make it as easy a process as possible for you. We can explore the reasons you feel the way that you do (there is nothing too small or trivial) and unscramble any confusion/frustration/sadness you may be feeling. We can work together without judgment or reprisals and you will be heard and understood. I work with sincerity, warmth and humour (where appropriate). I can adapt my way of working that will make you feel most comfortable . I offer face-to-face work, online, or telephone.
Using different methods of working may also help unlock suppressed feelings, deepen personal insight that can support you in achieving your goals. We can do this, if you wish, by using creative techniques such as Eco-therapy, (also known as walk and talk), clay work, drawing/painting , photography etc. Your voice is the one that I listen to and I will be guided by you, there are no requirements for us to follow a particular path.
Training, qualifications & experience
I work particularly well with people who are feeling stuck , anxious or depressed and perhaps going through life changes on an emotional and/or physical level such as Menopause or living with chronic pain. This is not an exhaustive list but an example of how I believe the physical and emotional worlds are interlinked.
I have a small private room that is available for face to face work which has free parking. I also offer a free non obligation phone or video call of 30 minutes to explore if I am the right counsellor for you and the purpose of your counselling. During the conversation we can discuss if you would like to set a certain number of sessions or leave it open ended .
I can accept a limited number of sessions at a concessionary rate for those on low income , unemployed or those drawing a state pension.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
