About me

A therapist counselling supervisor and counselling lecturer.

Whatever is affecting your ability to function, self-sabotaging behaviours, procrastination or perfectionism, listening to a negative inner voice 'should or oughts', or feeling sad frustrated passive or angry, I aim to support your mental health & well-being.

I work with individuals and couples, experiencing anxiety-related issues, such as those that impact relationships and a sense of belonging.

Experiencing person-centred therapy combined with  CBT therapeutic techniques, can reduce the impact of feeling overwhelmed panicked or stressed and help people cope better in what can feel like an accelerated pace of life of unrealistic expectations.

This includes support for social-emotional anxiety, diversity and difference, ADHD and Neurodiversity, which encompasses a wide range of conditions, including ADHD, (Asperger's Syndrome), Dyslexia and Dyspraxia -working memory /learning issues to name but a few.

As a UK professionally MSc qualified therapist with fifteen years of counselling practice online and face-to-face, I work from Leek in Staffordshire (town centre) nationally and internationally online,

In addition, in line with my interest in the human need to belong, I am a Barnadoes adoption-qualified professional.  I provide counselling insights and solutions, for people in transition, separating and or estranged.

As a Counselling lecturer and supervisor, I supervise trainees and qualified Counsellors for professional supervision as well as those working in roles that require regular giving and receiving of emotionally challenging and relationally complex communications, those in roles such as social work, health care nursing, HR management and directorships.

One size does not fit all... With a flexible convenient booking page,  you choose your session time and day. Clients can either hop into a single session (SST) brief short-term or longer-term counselling to work on themselves.

How do we get started?  You can arrange a free initial conversation and I will ask you some gentle questions to figure out what you would want to achieve.  I'll then send you a link to a booking calendar so that you can choose a time that suits you best.

Finally, what am I like as a person? You will find me caring and focused on your well-being... I offer professional-level counselling and takeaway techniques drawn from a long list of qualifications.

Online or face-to-face, you can feel less anxious, feel more confident and make life-lasting positive changes.

I look forward to meeting you soon

Jen

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

One size does not fit all... I like to offer a flexible way of working via a convenient booking page that allows you the client, to choose when you want us to work together. You can either hop into therapy for a single session or take your time with short-term (say 6 weeks) or longer-term counselling to work on yourself.

I have varied work-life experience, starting with a Master's in Counselling Psychology, post-grad qualified as a Psychological Well-being Practitioner, (NHS IAPT), and later transitioning to working in the field of education as a Counsellor in British international schools.

Alongside this work, I support estranged parents /separated /divorced or going through shared care court proceedings. For those considering adoption, and fostering  I offer a range of services providing parenting classes self-care and experience in preparing home study reports.

Working with you (or your family), whether that be on shared care communication, anxiety-related issues, sibling-parent relationships, fears feelings or thoughts, UK or ex-pat issues, transitioning in life is not always as straightforward as we might expect.

Sometimes all we need is a therapist Where We Are.

Previous clients say 'super-efficient and skilful, Jen managed to help me with quite a few things in a very short period. I am very impressed with her Counselling Skills, she quite possibly is a Master of her craft. 'Jen was my guiding light when I enrolled in her “Love and Logic” parenting course'.
