About me

Hello, I'm Jen and I have worked in a therapeutic and supportive capacity for over 23 years.  This has given me extensive professional experience of supporting young people and adults through a wide range of difficulties, including (but not limited to) grief, loss, bereavement, addictions, childhood trauma, anxiety, depression, neurodiversity, physical, emotional, psychological  and sexual abuse, relationship difficulties, domestic abuse, anger management and obsessive, compulsive behaviours.

I also have personal, professional and research experience of infertility and how living with this can impact mental health and well being.

After over 20 years in my last role I decided to complete a Masters in Clinical Counselling and set up my own private practice so I could focus fully on using my skills, experience and expertise to counsel clients.

I am a fully qualified counsellor and a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP).  My private practice can offer you a safe, supportive, confidential and non-judgemental space for you to talk about whatever you would like to explore in your counselling sessions.

How I work

I practice person-centred counselling which means the content and pace of our sessions is led by you.

I am also very experienced in using CBT techniques and interventions with clients and we may choose to incorporate these into our sessions.

Where I practice

I offer face-to-face sessions in a safe, rural, purpose built, home office location in Church Minshull which is on the outskirts of Nantwich. .

I also offer online sessions (via Zoom) or by phone.

Research

I have a special interest in fertility and have completed academic research into the emotional and psychological impacts of living with infertility.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
