Jean-Mary Myers - Integrative Counsellor
About me
When you are overwhelmed with challenges in life, feel stuck, or deal with mental health issues, devastating loss or trauma, it is helpful to talk with someone who can guide and support you. Counselling can help you sort through the things in your life that are important to you. When you feel understood and cared for, hopelessness leaves the room. You can then grow in courage to walk your journey without being alone.
About Me
I am a fully qualified Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist with experience of working with adults and adolescents. I have worked as a school Counsellor in one of Suffolk's largest high schools and continue to see adults and adolescents at my private practice in Kentford, Newmarket, Suffolk.
I am a registered member of the BACP and am working towards my accreditation.
I use an integrative and holistic approach based on Humanistic principles and incorporate Psychodynamic ideas, both of which respect the individuality and particular needs of each client. I also use CBT skills and therapeutic art, play and creative craft techniques.
My work centres on the belief that the quality of relationships between people are of paramount importance in respect of healthy human development and well-being.
My therapeutic work with clients focuses on the here and now whilst making links with the past. I work with clients to help them achieve their potential and develop in a positive way.
I will not judge you or try to tell you what to do, I will provide a safe and confidential space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours that may be affecting your life. I offer both long and short term therapy and will work with you at your own pace.
COVID-19 Statement - for the duration of the national lockdown I will be offering online counselling only unless you do not have access to equipment/sufficient internet or private space. I will discuss with you further during the initial telephone consultation.
You can contact me by phoning, emailing, texting or messaging on WhatsApp using the contact details here. If I cannot answer my phone please leave a voicemail and I will get back to you as soon as I am available.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
