About me
Short and Long-Term Work BACP Registered Fees - £55 per 50 minutes
Seeking support tends to mean that you are looking to make changes in your life going forward, or that you find yourself having to adapt to a change you don't feel resourced for. This can be a challenging place as you begin to understand old strategies and thinking, offering the potential to consider if they are no longer serving you. Exploring these together can allow opportunities to develop a different perspective with the chance to heal hurts that have been affecting your life, and space to understand there are different choices available to you.
I offer a blend of traditional person-centred reflecting on your experience, offering helpful models to work with different parts of your story, and practical tools like bringing an awareness of how the breath can be used to tap into feelings. My approach also includes some elements of psychoeducation, (education on how the mind works), in order to offer a perspective to understand the biological and psychological mechanisms at play, which determine how we feel. If this connects with you, we can work on techniques to use this understanding to develop posture and breathing tools, to compliment and support some ways to cope with challenges.
I endeavour to build a therapeutic relationship with safe boundaries where our work together is guided by your best interests and your stated goals or focus, enabling us to connect with the legacies of your history, and empower you to move forward with your life.
I have a BA Hons in Integrative Counselling (Iron Mill College, Exeter, affiliated to University of Worcester), which means I have a range of approaches I can work with, and experience working with a broad variety of clients in-person and online.
I use a disabled accessible counselling space in Newlyn, near Penzance for in-person sessions.
When working online, I try to evoke a counselling therapy space to ensure it is a protected and beneficial time, and not just another Zoom meeting.
If you like what you have read, and would like to talk further, please email me and we can explore what you’d like to work on in a free 20 minute call. This can also give you an opportunity to see if you would feel comfortable working with me, and ask any questions you may have.

- FdA Integrative Counselling Skills
- TQUK Level 2 Certificate in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
Integrative counselling skills offers a broad scope of approaches drawn from humanistic, psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural modalities. These terms refer to different ways of understanding human experience, to which I bring a foundation of being fully focused and present with my clients. I have experience with clients aged 20-70yrs on a range of issues from anxiety, depression, infertility, bereavement, addiction recovery, ADHD, motherhood and traumatic experiences.
In 2023 I completed a basic introduction to special needs support to improve my understanding of the experiences of neuroatypical people. This compliments my person-centred approach of the individual, and raised my awareness of the additional unique challenges faced by those who process the world in a neurodiverse way.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Whilst I appreciate medical labels which refer to a range of symptoms and feelings can be a useful shorthand to give a general description of your experience, I focus on your individual story and what brought you to seek support.

Further information
When working online, I use Google Meet which doesn't require a Google account, or need any additional apps to be downloaded. I will email you a link for our virtual meeting space with the date and time in the subject bar. Having a quiet safe place to have the call is essential to our being able to focus on you and your goals for the counselling work, so that you can gain the most benefit from setting aside this time for yourself.
