About me

During this very difficult time of uncertainty and social isolation, anxiety is running particularly high and it can be very helpful to talk this through with someone confidentially.

I would normally offer in person sessions along with telephone sessions,  I can also offer counselling sessions online, either using zoom video link or whatsapp  video link, but the room i use is a covid secure environment. I also understand at the moment that finances maybe a concern for many, taking that into account I can offer sessions at a reduced rate by arrangement, for those affected, my normal rate for counselling is £50 per session or £75 for 90 minutes of  supervision

If you would be interested in counselling, please contact me via the above number. I have worked as a counsellor for the past 15 years working for 3 local charities, specialising in bereavement and loss and also a wide range of mental health issues. In addition I also facilitate a monthly support group for mum's who have lost a child and I am a qualified supervisor.

How counselling/psychotherapy can help you

You maybe seeking therapy due to distress over coronavirus, anxiety, depression or a recent bereavement.

Maybe you need help with anger issues or your past experiences or maybe childhood issues, therapy can help you to explore your feelings and life experiences, giving you a greater understanding of yourself.

Whatever you are struggling with, I am here to listen and help you move forward towards a more positive future.

My counselling approach

I offer an intergrative approach, which draws on a variety of theories and perspectives depending on your needs. I am a firm believer in the therapeutic relationship that is formed between the client and counsellor and therefore my aim in therapy is to offer you empathy, a warm, genuine and non judgemental approach, enabling you to explore your issues at your own pace, facilitating positive change

What I offer as a therapist

I offer both short and long-term one to one counselling and psychotherapy to adults of all ages. I am very mindful of your need to feel comfortable during therapy sessions and I recognise that it takes alot of courage to explore often raw and painful emotions, I therefore offer a safe, comfortable space at the therapy quarters in Newcastle_under _Lyme

I am also a qualified supervisor and can offer supervision sessions for an hour and and a half

Therapy sessions last 50 mins and can be weekly, fortnightly or monthly to suit your needs

What to expect at your first counselling session

During your first session, I will ask for some brief details about you and a brief overview of your reasons for accessing therapy. You may wish to ask questions and how long therapy will last. There is no set answer to this, some clients may need a few sessions, whilst others may need longer term therapy, it is individual

I have availability every evening between 5.30 pm and 7.30pm and on a Friday, between 9.30am and 2pm

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
