Life is not easy with the challenges we face and we all experience periods of time where we struggle and need some support. Being able to talk freely in a non judgemental and empathic space can give you the opportunity to unravel your thoughts and feelings. I believe that counselling is about putting you first; something we rarely do. Every client is unique and therefore my sessions are planned around what you need right now.
So why choose me? I have been a similar position to where you are now. I understand it can be hard to take the first step but you are already there because you are reading my profile. Through my own life experiences/training I really want to work with people just like you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I successfully completed five years of training and gained a Foundation Degree in Person Centred Counselling in 2017. Since that time I have continued to gain experience and have now accrued over 450 hours. I am integrative counsellor which means I have trained in many different models of therapy, in addition to my main qualification, and because of this I am able to prioritise what my clients need.
My experience is primarily working with adults and young people (aged 14 plus) at all stages of their lives. My expertise and passion is helping and supporting others who struggle with anxiety and/or depression; I am able to facilitate my clients to improve their self esteem and confidence. I have found that once clients start therapeutic work they then start to understand and want to change what lies beneath some of their difficulties.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
